RIVER HILL HAWKS VARSITY COACHING STAFF

HEAD COACH KEITH GONSOULAND

Keith Gonsouland holds a BA in English and enters his 7th season as the Head Coach of the River Hill Boys Varsity Lacrosse team. The Hawks have compiled a record of 74 wins & 34 losses during his six years and have finished no worst than 3rd in a very competitive Howard County league. In 2006 the Hawks advanced to a regional final and were ranked 12th in Baltimore Sun’s poll. Coach Gonsouland emphasizes teamwork and doing the little things right in order to be successful.  15 Hawks have been selected to All-County teams under his direction. Before joining the Hawks, Gonsouland spent 3 seasons at Glenelg Country School as an assistant coach. He helped to lead the Dragons to two consecutive MIAA C conference title games. Coach Gonsouland’s playing career began at Wilde Lake High school where he first was introduced to the sport as a 10th grader. In his senior year he was selected to the All-County team. During that year he set a school and county record for ground balls in a season. He later went on to play at Radford University where he was named Rookie of the Year, and UMBC where he played for Don Zimmerman. After College, Gonsouland spent two seasons playing professionally for the Pittsburgh Crossefire and Washington Power of the National Lacrosse League. Currently Coach Gonsouland plays for the Mt. Washington lacrosse club in Baltimore, MD.


 

ASSISTANT COACH DAVID SHORTT

Assistant Coach David Shortt joins the Hawks coaching staff and will coordinate the defense. He comes to the staff after completing a successful playing career at Loyola College of Baltimore, where he earned a degree in communications. Coach Shortt helped propel the Greyhounds into the top 20 during all 4 years that he played. During his career he started on defense during his junior and senior seasons for the Greyhounds. Prior to arriving in Baltimore, Coach Shortt was named to New York’s Empire state team. During his high school career he was a two time all-county selection for Webster High School. This past winter, Coach Shortt was named to the US National Indoor Lacrosse developmental team. Coach Shortt is a team sales rep for Football America. 

 

 

 


 

ASSISTANT COACH DAVID STARKS

The Hawks would like to welcome Assistant Coach David Starks to the staff. He brings 25 years of lacrosse experience to River Hill. He began playing lacrosse at Meade High School where he excelled as a midfielder. After high school, Coach Starks played two seasons at Anne Arundel community College. After college, Coach Starks played club lacrosse for numerous teams and won two Central Atlantic Lacrosse League championships while playing for Bud Light and Lil Abner’s. Before joining the Hawks, Coach Starks spent 3 seasons as an assistant coach at Wilde Lake High School. During his time there, Wilde Lake improved dramatically. He brings a strong sense of commitment and passion for the game.
